2011 VOTE/COPE Drive

Our annual VOTE/COPE drive has begun for 2011. You will be receiving information from your building representative shortly. In the meantime, please consider the importance of your voluntary contribution.

VOTE/COPE is the non-partisan political action arm of NYSUT.
VOTE/COPE stands for Voice of Teachers in Education and Committee on Politics in Education.

The Future of your job, your retirement and your health care hinges on decisions made in Albany and Washington. Making a contribution to this year’s VOTE/COPE campaign will help ensure your voice will be heard on issues, large and small, that affect your life.

Legislative Accomplishments

  • Annual battle for better funding of public education & healthcare programs
  • Year after year, restoration of education budget cuts proposed by the governor
  • Every year, work to protect retiree health insurance benefits
  • Fight to protect tenure rights
  • Active participant in Campaign for Fiscal Equity
  • Permanent annual COLA in TRS & ERS pensions
  • Retirement incentives
  • Pension enhancements for Tier 3 & 4, such as elimination of 3% contribution after 10 years
  • Equity of 12 for 10 retirement credit for all SRPs
  • Work for Medicare “reform” and protection from Social Security “quick-fix” schemes

VOTE/COPE solicits and accepts only voluntary contributions.
VOTE/COPE contributions are not tax deductible.

If you requested one payment, your VOTE/COPE contribution will be taken from your paycheck on May 13, 2011.
